Natural Trails

Explore the surroundings and enjoy the beautiful countryside

The Madonie area, located in central Sicily, offers a variety of scenery, from the coast at Cefalu to the 2000m high Pizzo Carbonara. The flora and fauna are enchanting, and the breathtaking scenery will be printed indelibly on your memory. Walking in the National Park and its surroundings is an experience not to be missed.

Gole di Tiberio

A day at the Gole di Tiberio in the valley of the River Pollina won’t disappoint you (take a packed lunch and plenty to drink!). There are many activities on offer: rafting, a River Trail in rubber boots, canyoning on dinghies and guided excursions to admire typical river valley flora and fauna.

Adventure Park

For those who love acrobatics, a visit to the Madonie Adventure Park, in the Gorgo Nero district, is an absolute must. It’s located in a lovely wood and there are many different activities to try: treetop courses for adults and children, archery, the ‘powerfan’ jump (a 10m parachute jump simulation), off-road excursions, orienteering and mountain bike hire.

Rock Salt Mine

The salt mine at Petralia Soprana is a spectacular attraction, and one of a kind. It’s one of the richest deposits of salt in Europe and, accompanied by members of the Sotto Sale Association, you can visit both the first level of the Italkali working mine, and the Contemporary Art Museum (MACSS), parts of which are located in the mine itself.

Piano Battaglia

Piano Battaglia is home to a next generation ski lift, with which you can go skiing in winter and in summer, go up Monte Mufara. Visit the website for information on instructors, snowshoeing in winter and guided walks in beautiful surroundings.

Madonie National Park

In an area of rugged mountains which look out across the sea, there are more than 20 different footpaths, of varying degrees of difficulty, which allow you to discover the Park either on foot or on horseback, with 8 refreshment areas scattered throughout the region.

Etna Volcano

You could spend days, if not weeks exploring Etna, roaming far and wide exploring craters, caves, centuries old trees, woods, gorges and more. A day trip should include at least the following: a cave, a crater and the Bove Valley. You can’t fail to enjoy it!
